Back to the Harbor

The moment Gemini left the castle in Esperanza, she knew she was finally truly on her way to finding out what had happened to her. Though she still wanted to prove herself worthy to the monks of Roku Island, a nagging feeling in the back of her mind made her want to know the truth of that month that she had lost.

She decided to take a route less traveled by the general populace of Iris. The Crystal Rapids was a large lake with stone walkways throughout. It passed through forestland, carved through gorges, and fell into steep waterfalls. However, it was a natural beauty of the world that many shinobi and magician didn't take the time to appreciate.

However, though there was a low human traffic rate, there was high monster rates near the Crystal Rapids. The monsters weren't too powerful, but they roamed in packs usually. Regardless, Gemini was confident in her abilities to brave the path alone. As she prepared to walk along the stone path that dipped downwards into the river, she suddenly had another urge.

Closing her eyes, she began to channel chakra to her brain and called out to him.

"Hello? Nightingale, can you hear me?"

When Gemini first tried to contact Ceo, the feeling of a harsh pressure pounded itself onto Gemini's being. But it was instantaneous and ended before she could even acknowledge the encompassing pressure. She would be able to hear laughter on Ceodore's end, before it sounded as if his attention was focused solely on he and Gemini's opened mental link.

"Gemini? Is that you? How's your search going? Did you find anything of importance yet?" His voice was cheery and remained as playful as when they first met.

The pressure itself, even if instantaneous, would simply cause a pulse from Gemini's arm. She would not notice, simply having a small itch that she would rub through the bandages. Externally, she smiled at hearing Ceo's voice. Even if it had only been a few hours, it felt like months to her. She didn't realize having that one special person would mean so much to her.

"I...I'm not sure we'll be able to meet up anytime soon. I may have to go to the Vale Continent. I'm heading to Mylania Harbor right now." She didn't want to bring up the bad news right away but she didn't know what else to talk about. Afterward, she would fall awkwardly silent.

After a while of conversing, Gemini would cut the link to Nightingale. It had seemed like he had gotten pretty busy anyway. Her worry for him didn't last long as she began to pay attention to the beauty of nature around her. She wasn't naïve enough to let her guard down either though. She knew the Mylanian wilderness was home to many different creatures of varying different powers and levels of hostility, especially since they roamed in packs in the Crystal Rapids.

For a moment, she hesitated on what she wanted to do. Trying to find answers was fine and all, but as she was, she didn't know if she were strong enough to face those answers. Though she was blunt and quiet, anyone with half a brain could feel the powers that had been fluctuating like crazy for the last few hours. Her arm had been going to nuts, and even after talking to Ceo she knew something was happening in the world.

"Maybe...I should wait..." She thought to herself. She had waited for a while and it was out of character for her to be second guessing herself now, especially after she had already gotten a lead from Relius. With a sigh, she decided to change direction. She was smart enough to know no to rush into anything haphazardly. She had a lead, which was good enough for now. She wouldn't abandon her quest for the truth, but she would postpone it a little longer to ensure she was ready when she faced it.
